How do you feel about the new Facebook? You have until March 30 to change your Facebook to Timeline!
This month, Facebook introduced Timeline for company pages. The most apparent difference is the aesthetic shift, including a cover photo, larger images and a Timeline on the page. But there’s more. As shared by social media resource Mashable, here are the six changes/opportunities Facebook has introduced with Timeline for company pages.
Updated Look and Feel
Like a profile Timeline, a page Timeline is split into two columns with a large photo up top. There is also a running list of history on the right side of the page where companies can share milestones.
Reduced Tab Visibility
Instead of multiple tabs appearing along the left side of the page, four selected tabs appear under the cover photo. Companies will have to be more selective when choosing which tabs to display.
No Default Landing Page
You can no longer specify a default page, such as a promotion page. Users will always arrive in the Timeline.
New Ways to Feature Content
When photos are shared, they appear much larger in the Timeline format. Also, companies can “pin” posts to prioritize them on the page.
Tabs/Apps Become Outdated
Because the width of the page has changed, old tabs and apps have become outdated. Your page will need new application icons.
Private Messages Between Page and User
Facebook users can now send your company page a private message. Admins of the page will be alerted and able to respond. Companies can also initiate a conversation via private message with a user.
