THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2016) – Mustang Marketing’s — the largest full-service marketing agency in Ventura County — founder and president, Scott Harris, and business partner, Dianne McKay, are releasing their new book called “Ventura County Leaders, Go Back in Time to Their Twenty-First Birthday.” Harris and McKay asked 100 of Ventura County’s community leaders to go back in time and give advice to their 21-year-old selves — just as most would have been starting out in their adult lives and careers.
The book is aimed to inspire readers to live a successful and happy life through personalized flashback messages from some of Ventura County’s most influential people. Participants quoted in the book include Harris and McKay’s longtime friends and business associates, people they’ve met in their political lives, entertainers, athletes, members of the nonprofit sector, and more than a few individuals pegged as “unsung heroes.”
“We’re extremely excited to see this book come to fruition,” said Harris. “Dianne and myself, inspired by one of our clients, came up with the concept of the book about a year ago, and since Ventura County is near and dear to our hearts, we thought it would be great to see our community leaders come together in a book. The candor, kindness and gentleness of the responses are touching. We hope readers will get as much enjoyment out of the book as we did in putting it together.”
The book was celebrated at a private launch party with dinner, drinks and music in Thousand Oaks on Saturday, Oct. 15. The book contributors were given the chance to meet each other and receive their own book, and were encouraged to sign each other’s copies.
“This has truly been a labor of love for Scott and me,” said McKay. “With help from many of the books contributors, we’re donating 100 books to each of the six colleges and universities in Ventura County, including Ventura, Oxnard and Moorpark Colleges, Thomas Aquinas College, Cal Lutheran University, and Cal State University, Channel Islands. Our hope is that younger generations will read the book with these motivational messages and be inspired as they embark into adulthood and their professional lives. We’d like to personally thank everyone that participated and helped make this book possible.” McKay is also a Ventura County Community College District Trustee.
This is Harris’ second book. In 2012, he published Amazon’s best-selling, “RoadMap: A Guide to a Successful Strategic Marketing Plan.” Later this year he’ll be publishing his first fiction western novel, “Coyote Courage.”
