THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — (March 11, 2025) Dianne McKay, president of Mustang Marketing — a full-service strategic marketing agency in Ventura County — was honored as District 42 Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin’s Woman of the Year on March 11 at a ceremony in Sacramento.

A thrice-elected trustee for the Ventura County Community College District, McKay is a highly regarded leader in Ventura County — often called upon to consult on crisis communications; build, strengthen or repair community and government relations on behalf of clients; and to provide her expertise on panels ranging from business to marketing to leadership.

In addition to leading the work at Mustang Marketing, McKay volunteers on several boards and committees throughout the county, including her roles as current chair of the Ventura County Family Justice Center Foundation board, previous chair (now board member) for Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, and current board member for Safe Passage Youth Foundation, Ventura County Behavioral Health, Museum of Ventura County and United Way of Ventura County.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working together with Dianne on a number of projects that have benefited — and continue to benefit — our region spanning back several decades,” Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin said. “As part of Women’s History Month, we recognize the accomplishments of incredible women who continue to blaze trails and move California forward, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition than Dianne, whose steadfast commitment to supporting our district’s businesses, nonprofits and government entities has made an undeniable, long-lasting impact in Ventura County.”

McKay — a Thousand Oaks resident since 1972 — has received numerous awards for her outstanding work ethic ranging from PTA Honorary Service Awards to the San Fernando Valley Business Journal twice naming her a recipient of the Top Women in Business award. In 2011, she was honored with the Thousand Oaks Rotary John Conlan Award and named a Paul Harris Fellow. The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Ventura County granted her as Education Advocate of the Year for its annual Bravo awards in 2016. Following, she was awarded the 2018 Woman of the Year Award from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and the 2020 Education Leader of the Year from Ventura County Leadership Academy. More recently, she was selected by the Pacific Coast Business Times as a Top 50 Women in Business in 2023.
